Business Computing – A Blend of Business and IT Skills

Business computing is the application of a variety of technologies to the requirements of business information. It is a mix of the fields of computer science and may also include aspects of advanced computing. Graduates are qualified for careers in the field of business working on technical or computing-related issues or in the IT field.

The course is grounded in the work place. Faculty members from the field of engineering and business partners share their insights on real-life business issues. You will have the chance to develop real-world assignments that will apply your technical abilities to real-world problems. Over the course of four years, you will acquire a broad variety of IT and business abilities. From creating software applications to understanding how to analyse data to provide innovative solutions to businesses.

In your first year, you’ll be exploring topics like marketing and accounting and also gain hands-on experience with the latest IT and computing technologies. You’ll work on your IT and business skills in preparation for your year of placement, which can be either on-campus or at one of the many partner organisations in Kent and London. Upon graduation, you’ll have the unique combination of IT and business knowledge that could lead to a wide variety of career options, including web development, software development, helpdesk support and data analytics. Graduates have gone on to work for companies such as Accenture, BP, FDM and Spotify.
